And there it is!! Hopefully you've been sewing right along with us, and now it's just a matter of putting it altogether. And now here's your chance to win one of our 2 final prizes - the completed quilt or this great basket of goodies from the designers.

Leave a comment on this blog only to be eligible and on Monday, 2 winners will be randomly selected. (Remember, your comment must be on this blog only.) This was a mystery quilt - tell us what you think about mystery quilts or our Sew-Along.  Did you enjoy this, would you rather have known what the quilt looked like right from the beginning, or did you just trust that we would provide you with a beautiful quilt?

Many of you selected your own fabric or perhaps you used your own arrangement for our blocks - please send us a photo when you have completed your quilt top (maryellen@redcrinolinequilts.com).  I will give you some time to complete your top, so any pictures sent to me by November 2nd will be shared on this blog after that.

Thank you for joining us on our 1st ever Sew-Along. I would like to thank the Marcus Fabrics designers for their beautiful blocks, Lynn Graham and Cathy Peters for the fantastic quilting job and Gloria Parsons for binding the quilt.

Until next time, happy quilting,
Mary Ellen

  3. Thank you to all the designers for a wonderful quilt. I just love it and I know what I will be doing this weekend. All my blocks are finished and are just waiting to be set into a quilt. I can't wait to get started. This is the first mystery sewalong I have taken part in and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I would certainly do another one in the future. Thank you for a great sewalong and for the chance to win an amazing giveaway.

  4. I love a good mystery sewalong, at the end I have a nice quilt made from my own fabric in my favorite colours.
Thanks for this mystery and the great giveaway!

  5. LOVE the quilt. I like the anticipation of not knowing what the quilt looks like. I loved the fabric choices so I used those. This was a great sew along and I hope there is more in the future. A big thank you to all the designers. Great job!

  6. The finished quilt is stunning. Although I do not participate in many mystery quilt-a-longs, I knew this would be beautiful. All of the designers are known for making beautiful quilts. Each designer put their own spin on the blocks and I'm very happy I participated. Thanks to everyone for this amazing quilt and the opportunity to win prizes each week.

  7. Mystery quilts always scare me because I'm afraid my color selection will be all wrong! I can't stand the suspense waiting for the next block either! Thanks for sharing.

  8. Sometimes I am afraid of making a Mystery Quilt and not liking it. But I find if I like the fabric that is picked out at the first it relaxes me and I will most likely be happy with the end results. I loved the fabric in this quilt and had no issues with making this Mystery Quilt. The designers also help convince me to join in.I can't wait to finish this last step.

  11. I like the mystery but I do sometimes wonder about my own fabric choices. I liked that you showed your fabric choices so I had an idea.

  12. Love how you set the quilt! Mystery quilts are always fun to do. Sampler quilts are of my favorite type.

  13. Thank you to all the designers, it is a beautiful quilt. It has been so much fun to work with my friends on the blocks every week and compare the fabrics and our blocks when they're finished. Some of us just used the fabrics in the kit and some of used fabrics from my stash but choice the same colors that you chose. Thank you and we love the way you set the blocks together.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Of course I find this at the end! Still I really like the set up of this quilt and you could adapt any blocks to fill in the sampler spaces!
Mystery quilts are so much fun! You never know how it will all turn out and they are always stunning and take you by surprise!

  15. I usually don't care for mystery quilts because picking the fabrics is always a problem for me. I purchased the kit for this one because the fabrics were gorgeous. I knew I would be happy with the end result, and I am so glad that I did.

  21. Oh my, I love the finish. Retreat next week makes this a perfect project to take along. Thank you all for the work that went into creating this beautiful quilt. It was fun to sew. Of course it would be fun to be the winner of all the lovely goods.

  22. I like seeing the project ahead of time so that I can decide if I would want to use my limited time to do it. So sometimes I just print out the directions until I see the quilt. Also if I wait it helps me with the color scheme.

  23. Thank you to all the wonderful designers who put this mystery QAL together. It was so much fun sewing a new block every week and the finished setting blocks really make the quilt beautiful! I used the same color way and am very happy with the out come, thanks for the chance for the wonderful give away!!

  26. I LOVE IT!! Thanks for a wonderful mystery quilt-along! I've only done 2 mystery quilts and after the first one, I said that I wasn't going to do any more. I really didn't care for the finished outcome and while I did finish my quilt, I would never have made it if I had seen the whole quilt to start with. However, when this one came out, and I saw the designers, I knew that I would love it since I love all of the quilts designed by these ladies. I took the plunge and am so glad I did! I have really enjoyed getting up each Friday, watching for the newest block. I've tried to make each one the day it came out so that I wouldn't get behind. Thank you so much for sharing this quilt with us!!! It was pure fun!

  27. I enjoy reading Mystery QALs, but I usually wait until I have the whole thing before I start. Two things about this mystery QAL I love: (1) being able to download a printable version of the blocks (thank you!), and (2) the alternate blocks really make this quilt shine. Thanks

  31. I liked the mystery part of it. I also thought that the number of fabrics in the kit were just right...enough to give visual interest and continuity to the quilt. Thanks for the fun!

  37. I kept trying to imagine how these 9 blocks would end up, and your setting is perfect. I enjoyed the mystery because it was weekly - it's only one block and I lose interest if a month goes by between each one. Hope there is another SAL soon!

  41. You assured us this quilt would be beautiful, and it is stunning! This Mystery QAL started out with just enough information to get a feel for how the fabrics we're going to be used without revealing the design. Good designers are a must, and congratulations for the great job done with this quilt. SO excited to get my blocks in their setting!

  62. I love sew alongs but I struggle with Mystery quilts.
When I started quilting about 20 years ago I jumped into many things including Mystery quilts and was disappointed with each one. I was a single mom raising a daughter on very little so I decided to chose my quilts more carefully, so I cut the mystery out of quilting. I had to love it to invest my time and money on the project. Now that I'm older I find I might have a little more to put into my hobby (daughter is raised, college graduate and well married) but I still cannot abide the mystery (it's a control issue now). lol! Loved how this one turned out though. I might have to jump in and trust you all next time, you all have never steered me wrong!

  65. I am fairly new to quilting so taking on a sew along is a big step for me. As for mystery quilts I usually not a huge fan, but knowing who is designing it makes all the difference in the world, I only have to look at all of your designs to know that it would be something that I would have to have/make, it is awesome, just like all your quilts! Thanks for sharing this project and the chance at a wonderful giveaway.

  66. I have done a few mysteries. Some have been great and some not so great! I think this one was great as you provided a direction for fabric selection which helps in the end result. I loved the end result of this quilt!!

  70. I like the idea of mystery quilts, but once they are revealed I usually wish I had made other fabric choices!

  71. The finished quilt is great. I'm really hesitant to do mystery quilts in case they turn out to be something I don't like in the end. Fortunately I saved the directions for this quilt so I can make it in the future.

  72. I'm 50-50 on mystery quilts. I'm hesitant to jump into a project unless I know what the quilt is going to look like. I like using the same fabrics as the designer; I have the hardest time picking from my stash. This quilt is gorgeous and I love the setting blocks. They make the entire quilt sparkle.

  73. I love the way this quilt looks with the setting blocks. I love picking fabrics from my stash to match the designer fabric too. Thanks for a great sew-a-long.

  115. I really prefer to know what the finished quilt looks like - really helps me with color choices, especially since I rarely copy another quilter's color choices. This is going to be a beautiful quilt!

  116. Oh my goodness! What a gorgeous quilt. I'm one of those that tends to hold off to see what the quilt will look like before I start (helps me when I select fabrics). This one is a "must do"! Fabulous!! Thanks for your hard work.

  118. I am sorry that it is already finished. I had so much fun, anticipating each Friday night to check the new block. It is the first time I participate in a sew along but certainly not my last. Bonus: I really love the finished product too. You made me tried blocks I wouldn't have tried on my own. Thank you so much all of you, for being so generous with your time and talents. Much appreciated.

  119. I don't normally participate in Mystery Quilt challenges, but this one was gorgeous. I've even managed to keep up with the blocks. I'll join in any time Marcus Fabrics chooses to do another one.

  120. Love the finished design. This mystery quilt was a great mix of known (getting to see the square before making it) and unknown ( the setting). Since I made the squares from my stash I get to shop for the fabric to finish off the quilt, now. Yeah. Thank you designers. A wonderful quilt.

  121. Your Mystery Sew Along was wonderful!! Please do not wait long for another one! How could we go wrong with the chosen designers? Thank you sooooo much! (I kind of like to see it ahead of time so that I can make good fabric choices.)

  122. I'm usually hesitant to join a mystery because it's difficult to keep up with the steps. One block a week was perfect. And what a beautiful quilt to end up with. Thank you!

  123. Love the finished quilt! Thanks for "hosting" this mystery project. Hope you will do it again!

  124. I like the mystery although I can't always participate in the mystery so then I see it when it's completed. Thanks all the designers for doing this mystery.

  125. I have done a few mystery quilts and always enjoyed them. I do think it is only fair to tell you Monday is my birthday! Just sayin..

  126. Such a beautiful quilt! The mystery is fun, but I am never able to finish anything on time. By the time I get a couple done, everyone else is done and the mystery is reviled! Wonderful instructions and helpful photos. Thank you!

  127. I personally like seeing the finished quilt. That really helps me make fabric decisions (which is really hard for me).

Thanks for the chance to win!!

  131. love...love...love the final quilt! I am so happy that I followed along with this sew along and kept up with Friday's blocks...I used scraps of my CW and put same colors in blocks, so each block has different prints in the same colors...I am planning to work on the alternate blocks this weekend....I want this one finished ASAP
thanks for a great sew along

  135. I liked this mystery sew-along since I had purchased the quilt kit. I'm not a big fan of mystery sew-alongs if I have to use my own fabrics. When I've participated in mystery quilts without knowing the fabric, I have chosen fabrics that I don't look appropriate due to their placement.

    ReplyDelete
  136. I love that it is a mystery and I love the design. Thanks for sharing your creativity.

  137. Thanks for a great sew-along - love the final quilt. I really like the mystery but am such a chicken about fabric selections that I normally wait for the "big reveal" before starting....but I am getting braver ;o) Thanks also for a great giveaway!

  151. I enjoy mystery quilts! This quilt is beautiful and thanks so much for a chance to win!

  152. I would rather see the finished quilt before starting a sew-along. I think it's easier to choose colors and values when I know what's coming. I think it's fun to see posts of finished quilts by quilters who participated in sew-alongs. Your basket of goodies is very enticing.

    ReplyDelete
  153. So glad I decided to participate in this sew along! Loved the mix of fabrics right from the start. Can't wait to finish the quilt! Love the final result!

  156. Loved it from the beginning. Don´t usually do sew alongs but I felt this i had to, every single block was sooo preatty and easy to make that i enjoyed making it the same day you published it. I really like the finishing and I knew it was going to be preatty so i just went along with it. Again Thank you!!! Will send a pic as soon as i have it ready.

  164. Bonjour, je tente ma chance, j'ai eu tellement de plaisir à participer à cette aventure. J'adore l'idée de montage final, et cette idée globale d'un carré par créateur... j'ai hâte de terminer mon patch !

  165. I enjoy mystery quilts simply because of the variety. I know that I have always learned a new technique from a sew along and/or mystery quilt. Using fabrics from my own stash combined with not knowing what the final quilt will look like, generally (and unexpectedly) teaches a person a new use of color too. Learning and discoveries keep life (and quilting) interesting. Thank you for offering so many goodies in one grand giveaway!

    ReplyDelete
  166. I think the finished quilt is beautiful!! I started with the weekly blocks....and then life took over!! I'm planning on working on it this weekend. Now that I've seen how it will look, I've got to finish. I love the "unknown feel" of a Mystery Quilt", Can't wait for the next sew along!! Thanks for the opportunity!

  167. I can't wait to finish my quilt. I love doing quilt alongs and the mystery is a part of the fun. Anticipation and speculation keep you making the blocks just to find out. Ready for the next quilt along. PS: pretty chilly here in Warrensburg, Missouri this morning right at 33 degrees. Fall is upon us.

  170. I usually do not participate in mystery quilts because I like to know ahead of time what the end result is that I am working towards. But I must admit this one is beautiful. Thanks to all for this contributing to this project.

  171. I loved this sew along! It gave me the opportunity to visit other blogs, most that I had never visited before. Now I'll have a beautiful quilt and inspiration for many others. thank You!

  172. What a beautiful quilt! I have saved all of the steps to do this at a later date. I am not brave enough to do a mystery quilt and have a tendency to wait until the solution is revealed. Thank you so much for the chance to win your giveaway.

  173. Wonderful quilt. Thank you to everyone for sharing your wealth of knowledge with us!

    ReplyDelete
  174. I don't do mystery quilts. I watch the steps and at the end (the big reveal) I make up my mind whether or not to make the quilt. I still have fun watching others construct the pieces.

    ReplyDelete
  175. Thank you for the printable instructions. I like to keep these if I decide to make another quilt in different colors.
I have done 4 mystery quilts and am on the fence in how I feel. I absolutely loved 2 of the 4, one I did not finish and the 3rd is waiting to be completed. Yours is a knockout and I appreciate all your hardwork and effort to do this for us.

  182. If all mystery quilts were as beautiful as this one is, I'd always join them! I like the thought of mystery quilts, but I'll admit that I've never signed up for one because my time is precious to me and to spend it on a quilt that I don't really like, hasn't appealed to me enough to take the plunge and sign up. Thanks for this chance on some amazing prizes!!
